Where are the original Doctors of Embarrassing Bodies now – bankrupt after fake tweets to ITV’s This Morning
After seven years offscreen, Embarrassing Bodies is back with an all-new series. The reboot, which features an all-new lineup of doctors, premieres Thursday, May 19 night on E4.
Season nine will see Dr Jane Leonard, Dr Anand Patel and Dr Tosin Ajayi-Sotubo help break the stigma around “embarrassing” conditions. The trio will help members of the public diagnose and treat a variety of medical issues.
As fans of the original series may recall, Dr. Christian Jessen ran the show, with Dr. Dawn Harper and Dr. Pixie McKenna also appearing as co-hosts. The most recent series of Embarrassing Bodies aired in 2015.

So where is Dr. Christian and what happened to the other original Embarrassing Bodies doctors? Here’s everything you need to know before the reboot.
Dr Christian Jessen
Famous doctor Christian Jessen rose to fame through the Channel 4 original series Embarrassing Bodies. He appeared on the show from 2007 to 2015 and also presented shows such as Supersize vs Superskinny and Hotel GB.
In 2021, he made headlines after it was reported he was facing bankruptcy after losing a defamation case. The TV personality has been ordered to pay politician Arlene Foster £125,000 after she tweeted false allegations that Foster was having an extramarital affair.
At the time, Dr Christian, now 45, admitted he only had £20,000 to his name and his mental health was suffering from the stress of the legal battle. He was later criticized for launching a GoFundMe campaign to raise £150,000 to cover his legal costs.
Dr Dawn Harper, 59, appeared alongside Dr Christian on Embarrassing Bodies and its spin-off series, Embarrassing Bodies: Live from the Clinic. She now works as a part-time GP in Stroud, Gloucestershire, and runs several private clinics.
His other projects include co-hosting Born Naughty? alongside Ravi Jayaram in 2015 and appearing on The Wright Stuff, Woman’s Hour and This Morning. She also writes for publications such as Mother and Baby Magazine and the Healthy Food Guide.
Dr. Pixie McKenna, 51, completed the original list of Embarrassing Bodies doctors. She has worked on various television programs over the years, including Freaky Eaters and Embarrassing Illnesses.
Like Dawn, Pixie has also appeared as a medical expert on radio and TV shows, and has previously helped listeners in a regular slot on The Ray D’Arcy Show on Today FM. Since Embarrassing Bodies ended in 2015, she has continued to run a clinic in Cork, Ireland.
